Detective Inspector Heysmand has been a member of the New South Wales Police Force for 24 years is currently the Principal Tutor on the Incident Commander’s Course. He manages a team responsible for delivering the Sergeant’s Transition Program and the Incident & Emergency Management Course. After many years in criminal investigation Inspector Heysmand moved into the field of major events and was a Forward Commander during APEC 2007. He joined the planning team for World Youth Day 2008 and the Papal visit of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. At the conclusion of World Youth Day Inspector Heysmand remained with the Major Events and Incidents Group and spent four years planning, coordinating and working on major operations, both planned and reactive. In July 2013 Inspector Heysmand accepted an offer to take on his current role within Management and Leadership Development as Principal Tutor on the Incident Commander’s Course.
