Jamie Storrie is the Manager, Marine Environment Pollution Response, within the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. Jamie manages the national arrangements for preparing and responding to maritime oil and chemical spills. This has including leading the most recent review of the National Plan for Maritime Environmental Emergencies, implementation of a national training program for incident management and marine pollution response and ongoing maintenance of nine major oil spill equipment stockpiles. Jamie is an environmental scientist with in excess of twenty years of experience in marine pollution and environmental emergency response in Australia and the United Kingdom. Jamie has responded to numerous maritime casualty and marine pollution incidents, performing incident control, management and advisory response functions. Most notably Jamie led the response to the Montara Wellhead oil spill, Timor Sea, in 2009 and played a significant role in establishing the Joint Agencies Coordination Centre as part of the search for the missing Malaysian Airlines MH370. Jamie is currently a postgraduate student within the National Security College of the Australian National University focusing on the application of complex systems thinking to crisis management.
